Two units at Vales Point trip simultaneously on Sunday 7th June 2020


It’s not been a great weekend for Delta Electricity (or Sunset Power’s) Vales Point Power Station:

(A)  Periods of Non-Conformance on Saturday 6th June

On Saturday I noted a couple different periods of Non-Conformance noted for Vales Point unit 5:

1)  The first instance was in the morning (07:15 to 07:20) as noted in Market Notice 75875 – as shown here:

(B)  Simultaneous trip of both units on Sunday 7th June

Then this afternoon we see both units trip at 13:33 as noted by AEMO in Market Notice 75880:

 AEMO ELECTRICITY MARKET NOTICE.

 Non-credible contingency event – NSW region – 07/06/2020

 At 1333 hrs the Vales Pt Unit 5 and the Vales Pt Unit 6 both tripped.

 AEMO did not instruct load shedding.

 AEMO has not been advised of any disconnection of bulk electrical load.

 The cause of this non credible contingency event is not known at this stage.
